Leaning Tower of Pisa - Aerial - December 2017 - Sunset

Villa Maya is the starting point for a sensory journey through the finest Tuscany

Imagine rolling hills flowing like waves, orderly vineyards glistening in the sun, hilltop villages where time seems to have stood still.

From here you can easily reach Pisa, Volterra, Lari and the coastal gems; but you can also deliberately lose yourself along cypress-lined country roads, entering centuries-old wineries or savoring a glass of wine at sunset.

Aerial view of an adventurous cyclist with gravel bike on a dirt road with lined cypresses among yellow field, Montalcino, Val d'Orcia, Siena, Tuscany, Italy A gravel bike is a versatile bicycle designed for mixed terrain, combining elements of a road bike and a mountain bike. It features a comfortable geometry, wider tires with light tread, and stable handling, making it ideal for riding on gravel paths, dirt roads, and rough pavement. Compared to a road bike, it’s slower on smooth asphalt but far more capable on uneven surfaces. Compared to a mountain bike, it’s lighter and faster on long-distance rides and less technical trails.

This land is not just to be seen, it’s to be lived: private walks through olive groves, guided tastings at the best wineries of the Pisan Hills, chic picnics among the vines, hot air balloon rides at dawn to admire the mosaic of colors from above, boat trips to secluded beaches reachable in twenty minutes.

Every excursion is designed for those seeking tailored experiences, away from tourist circuits, in complete comfort and with exclusive services.

Wine and food route

The Pisan Hills offer one of the most fascinating food and wine routes: the “Pisan Hills Wine Route.” This itinerary winds through vineyards and villages in search of Sangiovese-based Chianti.

The variety of the landscape, dotted with vines, olive groves and ancient woods, and the presence of medieval villages make this area one of the favorite destinations for visitors. Villa Maya can organize for you:

  • Guided winery visits with tasting of DOCG wines and local products.
  • Oil tours at local mills to discover the green gold of Tuscany.
  • Cooking classes with chef Susy to learn how to prepare pappardelle with white ragù or cantucci with vin santo.

Nature experiences just a stone's throw from the sea

Our park is just the beginning. Just beyond you can venture into:

  • Nature reserves, such as the Migliarino San Rossore and Massaciuccoli Park, where you can observe deer, migratory birds and breathe in the scents of Mediterranean scrubland.

The sea is about twenty minutes away: in less than half an hour you can reach the beaches of the Pisan and Livorno coastline. From the dunes of Marina di Pisa to the white cliffs of Rosignano, the coast offers breathtaking sunsets and crystal-clear waters.

Every season brings a celebration: wine festivals, historical reenactments, music festivals. Villa Maya will keep you updated on the most interesting events.
